Betsy Tweedy
"Textiles in the Attic and Fashions of Olde"

Betsy Tweedy is a librarian at the Trimble County Library in Bedford.  She's a member of the Trimble County Historical Society and the benefactor of lovely historic garments (and textiles) from various family members.  These remain in remarkable good condition and she is so pleased to be able to share the history (and HERstory) of those garments and how they reflect the fashions in a different era.  Betsy also has many of the accessories that went with these garments.  But there is more to the story than just the garments, there are Ladies sewing necessities and tools and the essentials of the well set-out-Lady of the 19th Century!

October 2010, Open house at "The Grange"

Our 2010 preservation project,
...roof repairs to the only remaining African American school house that exists as originally built.

This building is the only school building that exists as originally constructed. The one in Eminence is a private residence, and the one in New Castle is now a duplex. The building in Campbellsburg is terrible condition. However, it is structurally sound. The historical society, under the leadership of Jim Kleinert, funded the repair of the roof to help stabilize the building from farther deterioration.

The building was surveyed by the Kentucky Heritage Council (KHC) and has been identified as a place of historical significance in Henry County and has been listed in the Kentucky Historic Resources Inventory.

The property is now under the care of Mrs. Jean Fields.

Henry County Web - History Diane Coon has spent years researching the quest for freedom in Trimble, Henry, Oldham, Owen and Carroll Counties, safe houses, "conductors" and trails and trials of abolitionist and fugitives.

She has worked with or is working with the National Park Service, Northern Kentucky Heritage Magazine, Tourism Boards, and literally more related history projects than I can mention!

If you have the chance to meet/see Diane at one of here engagements you will be delighted by the amount of information she has accumulated and organized into a very interesting presentation....not unlike the great talk she gave at the Henry County Historical Society meeting a few years ago.
